Touch Screen Control
 
The Touch Screen Console interface has replaced the old push button console with digital controls and displays. This allows the operator to control the set up and performance of the extruder with far greater precision than was previously possible. Jennings' latest innovation has been the integration of computer controls into the Touch Screen Console. The control program works with the Microsoft Windows operating system, and includes a licensed copy.  
Computer based control now allows the operator to log data throughout the extrusion run. The built in computer includes a 3.5 inch floppy drive which allows convenient data exchange and screen updates from Jennings without downtime. The addition of an Ethernet network card allow easy communication with a mainframe computer system.  
Jennings has developed a program which logs extrusion data every 10 seconds. This data is stored in a flat file which may be readily transferred and displayed in a spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel. Any of the displayed data categories may be logged, including, but not limited to:
 

• Extrusion Pressure
• High Pressure
• Low Pressure
• Clamp Pressure
• Ram Speed
• Ram Position
• Ram Input Signal
• Die Temperature Set Point
• Die temperature Actual

 
The collection of this data may be used to refine your extrusion process by identifying areas for improvement. The information gathered is a useful tool in identifying issues relating to wire quality and machine performance.
